Rubber bands are often an important part of orthodontic treatment. They supply the pressure needed to move teeth and jaws into their correct position. Cooperation is important in achieving the desired results. Please carefully follow the instructions you receive regarding their placement and use.
Class I Rubber Bands
Used to close open extraction spaces and to correct the midline

Class II Triangles
Used to Close an open bite in a class II direction and to correct midlines

Class II Rubber Bands
Used to decrease Overjet, correct midlines, and also help close spaces in extraction cases

Class III Triangles
Used to close an open bite in class III directions and to correct midlines

Class III Rubber Bands
Used to reduce an under bite and correct midlines

Elastics may cause your teeth to hurt a little at first. Thats because the teeth are moving, which is our goal. Usually the tenderness lasts only a few days. Not wearing your elastics as instructed will only make the tenderness last longer, and tooth movement will require more time.
